Google Analytics

You can use Google Analytics to see a report that shows you which users initiated sessions on your site. To do this, go to your Google Analytics account, click on “Reporting”, and then select “Behavior” > “Site Content”. From there, you will be able to see a report that shows you which users initiated sessions.

Go to your Google Analytics account.

  1. Navigate to Google Analytics in your browser and log in with your Gmail account.
  2. If you have multiple Analytics accounts, select the correct one from the drop-down menu in the upper-left corner of the screen.
  3. Click on “Admin” in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  4. In the middle column, under “Property”, select “Create new property” from the drop-down menu.
  5. Select “Website” as your property type and enter the required information, then click “Create”.
  6. Once your new property is created, you will be given a tracking code to insert into your website’s code.
    Navigate to Behavior > Site Content > Landing Pages

    The Landing Pages report shows you which pages on your site draw the most visitors upon arrival. The report displays data for both unique and total pageviews, helping you to identify not only which pages are most popular overall, but also which pages are most popular with new visitors. To find this report:
  7. Navigate to Behavior > Site Content > Landing Pages.
  8. Select the date range for which you want data. By default, this report displays data for the past month, but you can view data for up to the past two years.
  9. If desired, click the Show Advanced Options link to specify a secondary dimension, or to view only a specific subset of your landing pages (e.g., those that resulted in a conversion).
    Use the Secondary Dimension drop-down to add Source/Medium

The report shows you, for each day in the date range you choose, how many users initiated sessions on your site, and where they came from. You can use this report to see which channels are driving the most traffic to your site, and to track changes in traffic over time.

To add a secondary dimension to this report:

  1. Open the report.
  2. Click the Secondary Dimension drop-down above the table of data.
  3. Select Source/Medium from the list of secondary dimensions.
  4. The table will update to show you, for each day in the date range you chose, how many users initiated sessions on your site, and their source/medium.
    Bing Analytics
    Bing Analytics is a free online service that provides detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. The service is designed to be used with the Bing search engine, but it also works with other search engines like Google, Yahoo, and AOL. The service provides a comprehensive set of tools for website owners to track their visitors and learn about their behaviour. The service is easy to use and it provides a lot of useful features.
    Go to your Bing Analytics account
  5. Go to your Bing Analytics account.
  6. Select the Tools icon, and then select Analytics.
  7. In the left pane, expand Acquisition, and then click on Overview.
  8. In the right pane, click on the download icon next to the Users who initiated sessions over time report under the Reports section.
    Navigate to Acquisition > Overview
    In Acquisition, Overview provides you a summary of how users are acquiring your app. The platform that they use to acquire your app, such as iOS App Store or Google Play, is displayed as well as the number of new users, Total users, and Active Users.
    Use the Secondary Dimension drop-down to add Source

The Secondary Dimension drop-down is located in the upper-left corner of the Bing Analytics web interface, just to the right of the Primary Dimension drop-down. The Secondary Dimension drop-down allows you to add a second data dimension to your report, giving you more report customization options and insights.

To add a Secondary Dimension to your report, simply select it from the Secondary Dimension drop-down. The dimension will be added as a column in your report. You can then use the options in the Columns drop-down (located in the upper-right corner of the interface) to further customize your report.
